Lottie Bolster
Lottie Bolster is a neuroscientist turned visual artist working on arts projects about motherhood and the human condition. Her practice uses a range of established and experimental media to upturn stereotypes, calling on audiences to question the frameworks through which we view the world. Often working in collaboration with diverse groups of people she explores varied experiences of common situations. A new mother herself, her ongoing works include: 'with child' an embroidery project with women who have experienced pregnancy and new motherhood during the pandemic; @oneyearamother, a reflective recording of her unfolding story of motherhood post anorexia, and; 'weaning works' a collaborative project with her daughter and playful recording of the process of weaning, as they (re)explore their relationship with food together.
As an award-winning print maker and graduate of MA Art and Science, Central Saint Martins, she has exhibited in the UK and internationally. Her practices are built on her professional background in scientific research and the social sector. She worked in research at the Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery and holds degrees in Physiology BA from The University of Oxford, and Clinical Neuroscience MSc from Kings College London.
