Alison Cooke

Alison Cooke is a ceramicist who works with clay dug from interventions such as mining, engineering or scientific research. Her work revolves around the layers of history below a location, with a particular focus on hidden or underground networks where histories relate to, and impact on our lives today. Alison’s work is project based and often includes public engagement and involvement of other artists. She is a founding member of ceramics collective The Associated Clay Workers Union, member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, winner of the Henry Rothschild Bursary, and a recipient of grants from the Craft Pottery Charitable Trust and Arts Council England. Alison is an adoptive mother and based in London.
