Dawn Hynd

I don’t perform; I see my art as an embodied, enacted and transformative experience. It is ceremonial and ritualistic in nature and serves as an expression of my emotions. My work provides a platform for me to tell my story and to process trauma that I’ve experienced within the different parts of myself - the girl, the women, the mother. Integral to my practice is our innate connection to nature; being embraced by, exposed to and immersed in it reassures me. Like nature, I believe that art can be powerfully transformative for both the artist and the viewer and even more importantly it can heal. I endeavor to harness this through performance captured in photography/film and also through sculptural work.
