Lauren Evans

Lauren Evans is a contemporary artist based in Perth, Scotland and has been practicing art for over a decade. Lauren describes herself as a primarily mixed media artist, using mostly collage and acrylic paints within her work. She regularly produces works that are heavily layered with vintage imagery, the female form and nods toward popular culture and modern society. Her use of vintage imagery stems from her interest in magazines from the 1930’s onwards, taking prints and adverts from said magazines and turning them into something new and contemporary. Lauren regularly investigates themes of feminism, socialism, capitalism and politics within her works, creating commentary on world events as she experiences them. She also expresses her life-long battle with mental illness through her work, as well as her experience of motherhood. Her work has been exhibited at Summerhall, Edinburgh in 2018 as part of the Invisible Spaces collaboration with Historic Environment Scotland, celebrating the Year of Young People. Lauren has also worked alongside local artists, including those at Creative Catalyst Scotland, a social enterprise which helps young people get involved in the creative industry.
