Monika Crowley

Monika Crowley’s practice explores the trauma of change and identity crisis, utilising mundane objects in a symbolic, transformative manner whereby they become totems and talismans of the past. Mining nostalgia to provoke an emotional response, she uses the visual language of the every day to exploit and tap into the emotions that conjure memory and recognition.

A professional background in commercial visual culture informs the work with a bold graphic style that translates well to the medium of printmaking which is one of the principle mediums used in her practise. Crowley has exhibited with Higher Pitch in London, with the Limerick Printmakers Studio and Gallery, at The Ranelagh Arts Centre, at The Molesworth Gallery, Greenacres Gallery, at Graphic Print Gallery Summer Show, at VUE in the RHA, and her work was selected for the RHA Annual Summer 188th Exhibition. Her pieces are held in many private collections, nationally and internationally, and in the public collections of the OPW and the Contemporary Irish Arts Society. She has worked with the Design & Arts Council of Ireland on their Designers & Makers Webinar series and has been selected for Arts Council Funding.
