Montserrat Serra Nonell
Montserrat Serra Nonell (1980) is an artist based in Granollers, Barcelona. She creates textile sculptures and abstract paintings. She uses natural materials and creates a warm and ethereal aesthetic in her artworks. She studied arts in Escola Massana, Barcelona (2006) and Master of Arttherapy in University of Barcelona (2009). In her words: “I create to translate into images the beauty of the ephemeral, fragile and unpredictable that life is”. Nowadays she sets her framework through warmful abstraction, mostly textile sculptures. Her main interested topic is how motherhood shapes our vision of time and ourselves. She explains it through texture. It takes an important place in her works, coming from fabric itself or wool and ceramics. Her creative language comes from collage works, where she explored human fragility and poetry of nature. A highlight in her style is her art-therapist and spiritual background, which influences the creation-creator communication, giving much attention to the process. She believes that although we often may experience sensations of fear in life, there is always a place to keep ourselves safe, and that place is wihtin us.
