Stephanie Noble
Stephanie Noble was born in Cardiff and after living in various European cities, currently lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland with her husband and two children. Stephanie made a career in Environmental Health but came back to visual art while living abroad, inspired by the landscape of the Alps. Entirely self-taught, Stephanie likes to work in impasto oil paint applied with a painting knife and so the texture achieved on the canvas often communicates the textures of the landscape being depicted. Still inspired by the local landscapes that surround her, Stephanie’s focus has shifted from the high Alps to the rolling hills and wild brambles of the countryside of Ireland.
Stephanie’s work is a reflection of images and experiences where the simple beauty of the landscape has inspired her, sometimes looking past the more obvious and finding beauty in the overlooked. The different experiences people have with landscape and the layering of human emotion onto a landscape that is always changing, yet simultaneously also remaining steadfast, is something that Stephanie likes to explore. Recent work has explored the aftermath of covid – especially as a working parent, using the landscape around her as a tool for discussion and consideration.
