Each piece is a meditation on the power of memory and the art of preservation, a visual narrative of the transformative process of becoming a parent. Laser cutting, with its precision and versatility, has allowed me to create these sculptures with a level of detail and intricacy that mirrors the depth of emotion and experience inherent in motherhood. The technology itself is a metaphor for the way modern mothers juggle the demands of their new roles with precision and care. In the piece "Grit", I've chosen to laser-cut onto sandpaper, a tool I've used regularly in my sculpture practice to shape and finish my work. I am drawing parallels on how becoming a parent has shaped me much like I shape a sculpture; at times it has made me smoother while other moments have made me rougher.

In my recent body of work, I have created small-scale sculpture using laser cutting techniques to craft intricate, detailed pieces that explore the multifaceted experience of early motherhood. The documentation from my early days as a mother serves as both a source of inspiration and a record of my personal journey. These entries of feeding times, questions for the pediatrician and keepsake mementos are the raw materials from which my sculptures are born.
