‘Home’ by Sorcha O’Brien

This work is based on a series of collages I made back in 2018 after I had moved house for the third time in five years. My youngest was nearly two at the time and still needed to live every waking and sleeping minute attached to me. The house we moved into wasn’t permanent, along with many other things in our lives at the time, and I was really feeling the weight of it all. I was also feeling the weight in my body, that was unrecognisable from a few years previous. However, it took me until 2021 to complete these works, this time with the reality of months living in a pandemic. During the pandemic I was unable to move and so our temporary home had become less temporary but still not entirely stable.
