Lorna Robertson

Lorna Robertson is an artist from Surrey with Scottish roots. She studied at Central Saint Martins and is now based in Hackney Wick, East London. She works in abstract oil painting and drawing, specialising in geometric compositions and portraits. Her work explores the internal structure of abstract painting, and seeks to portray aspects of our human experience. Influenced by early women pioneers of abstract painting with their distinctly female interpretations of modernist style, including Sonia Delaunay, Vanessa Bell, and Lee Krasner, Lorna combines realism and abstraction, a blending that is played out through the creative process. Over time she has developed her own visual language - a way of seeing the world through the imaginary picture plane, seeking to connect conscious and unconscious parts of our experience through the process of painting.

Her work has been included in festivals such as the London Design Festival, Salone del Mobile, and Hackney Wicked, and displayed in galleries such as The Hospital Club, Stour Space and The Hive. She was long listed for the 2022 Jackson's Painting Prize, in the Abstract category for her work "Painting for 18 Musicians" and was an artist in residence at the Old Jet Arts Centre in 2022. regularly works on commissions and has sold artwork and prints to a worldwide audience.
