Marilyn Kyle
Marilyn Kyle is an artist based in the UK and works from her home studio in the wooded North Downs, close to London. Following her M.A in Fine Art (UAL, Wimbledon) and her earlier M.Ed Art in Education (Exeter), Marilyn’s practice broadened, from painting and printmaking, to include assemblage, installation and a wide range of media and processes. The central focus of her work concerns her position as woman, daughter, and mother. Marilyn explores her own experiences, many of which are common to others, as well as political debates around ‘woman’ and ‘the mother’. Her subjects have included infertility, adoption, mental health and dementia, as well as the relationships surrounding the parent and child/adult who is not ‘perfect’ (be that through disability, addictions, crime etc). Recent works have used print and textiles as well as found objects. She is currently exploring the theme of the abandoned and is working with textiles and dressmakers pins.
