We are inviting submissions of work in all mediums to be considered for our upcoming physical exhibition in Edinburgh, October 2022.

Spilt Milk’s one-to-one mentorship programme is tailored specifically to the needs of women and non-binary artists working in any creative medium and at any stage of their careers. Our mentors are all practicing artists who also identify as mothers and understand the unique challenges faced by women in the arts.

Individually-funded, solo residencies for women and non-binary artists.

Spilt Milk would like to invite all members to take part in the 100 Days Project Scotland which starts on June 1st 2022 and culminates on September 9th 2022. The rules are simple. Choose one creative thing and commit to doing it every day for 100 days.

Open call for exhibition submissions responding to the notion of collective healing. Works in all mediums will be considered.

Open Call - If Not Now, When?

A year on from the first lockdown’s being imposed around the world, we are facing the reality that “unless we act now, the pandemic could set women’s rights back by decades” (United Nations 2020). This past year has seen systems of oppression rise to the surface once more, and has disclosed inequalities which can no longer be overlooked. It has made the invisible or ignored, visible for all to see. It is clear that we cannot return to what was, and we do not yet have a clear path forward. So where do we go from here?

Becoming a board member is an excellent opportunity to support our Founding Director, Lauren McLaughlin to build upon and expand the work of Spilt Milk during a time when amplifying the voices of mothers has never been more important.

With thanks to a successful funding award from Firstport, we are excited to be able to invest in some much needed updates to our website branding and marketing.

We would like to commission an illustrator who identifies as a mother to create a new membership logo and series of illustrations for use on our website and promotion.
