Miss/Missed/Missing is a poignant self-portrait artwork from 2022, rendered in red pencil and pen on baby pink paper. The image is meticulously cut out and collaged onto a larger pink card. This evocative piece emerged during a month-long residency at Hospitalfield in Arbroath, inspired by my exploration of missed moments and the complex emotions surrounding them. The hands in the composition symbolise both the longing for past moments, like holding my 19-year-old daughter as a baby, and the act of self-soothing. The artwork delves into the search for a visual language to convey the profound emotions associated with nostalgia and memory.
